Following Iran’s attack on the U.S. airbase in Qatar, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul delivered a strong message on platform X. He labeled the strike as “unacceptable” and reaffirmed that Germany “stands in solidarity with our partners in the Gulf States.”

He emphasized that “further escalation in the Middle East is not inevitable,” calling instead for “direct negotiations between the U.S. and Iran.” Wadephul concluded with a firm statement: “There must never be an Iranian nuclear bomb”.
