On 18 August 2022, at the opening event of the Divan Centre’s Black Coffee Series, Dr. Klaus Wittmann, a retired brigadier general, historian, publisher and lecturer at the University of Potsdam, gave an overview of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the significance of the ‘tipping point’ for the world in a background discussion in the library of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Moderated by journalist Ewald König, the discussion which included representatives from politics, diplomacy and the press debated the new situation since the outbreak of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine as well as Russian war tactics, the state of the German army, the future of NATO and the possibility to end the war.
