On Wednesday, the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt reaffirmed their joint mediation efforts in the Gaza Strip. Both countries emphasized their commitment to alleviating civilian suffering and consolidating the ceasefire as a prelude to a permanent solution to end the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
This was stated in a joint declaration by the foreign ministries of both nations, underscoring that the Qatari-Egyptian mediation efforts are based on a shared vision aimed at ending the unprecedented crisis affecting Gaza’s residents and creating conditions for a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire.
The statement highlighted that Doha and Cairo will persist in their efforts despite so-called “attempts to sow discord among brothers.” These attempts—whether through doubt, media escalation, or deliberate distortion of facts—will not succeed in obstructing efforts to end the war and its resulting catastrophes.
Both countries firmly rejected engaging in “internal contexts or side issues” that do not serve the overarching interests of the Palestinian people. They reiterated their unwavering commitment to clear and focused joint work aimed at alleviating humanitarian suffering and strengthening the ceasefire as a pathway to a comprehensive and lasting political resolution of the conflict.
The statement also emphasized that coordination between Qatar and Egypt is conducted in close collaboration with the United States, with the goal of reaching an agreement to end humanitarian suffering in Gaza, ensure comprehensive protection for civilians, and restore regional stability.
These statements come at a time when regional and international efforts to end the months-long military operations in Gaza are intensifying, amid growing public and human rights pressure on all parties to swiftly find a political solution to alleviate the population’s suffering and start a new phase of security and stability.
