The 20th edition of the Alexandria Library International Book Fair kicked off on July 7, 2025, and will continue until July 21. This prominent cultural event is held in cooperation between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the General Egyptian Book Organization, and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Union. The fair is considered one of the most prominent cultural events in Egypt and the region, bringing together a select group of publishing houses, authors, and readers on a single platform to promote culture and knowledge.
Approximately 79 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses are participating in the current edition of the fair, offering a wide and diverse selection of books in the fields of literature, thought, culture, and science, allowing visitors to browse the latest releases and rarest titles in various disciplines. The fair features a special pavilion dedicated to children, featuring more than 15 publishing houses specializing in printing and publishing children’s books. This pavilion aims to encourage reading and foster a love of knowledge among young generations through exhibitions, workshops, and educational entertainment activities.
The fair also includes a pavilion dedicated to old and rare books, where visitors can explore a distinguished collection of books of historical and cultural value. This reflects the fair organizers’ commitment to preserving cultural heritage and introducing the public to the most important books and manuscripts that have influenced human thought. The fair features numerous cultural events, seminars, and discussion panels featuring writers, thinkers, and critics from Egypt and Arab countries. Contemporary intellectual and literary issues are discussed, and the events provide opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of ideas among diverse audiences.
