On 28 January 2026, another edition of the Black Coffee series hosted by the Divan Centre took place at the Hotel Waldorf Astoria Berlin. In an exclusive setting, guests from diplomacy, politics, media, and academia came together to discuss current security policy developments in the Middle East.
At the center of the event was a presentation by Major General Dr. Rashed Hamad Al Nuaimi, Major General and Director of the Strategic Studies Center (SSC) in Qatar. He outlined Qatar’s approach to preventive diplomacy and the strategic use of soft power in addressing regional crises. In doing so, he demonstrated how diplomatic mediation can help prevent escalation while simultaneously safeguarding national sovereignty.
The discussion, moderated by Ahmed Abida (Deutsche Welle), allowed for in-depth questions and was held under the Chatham House Rules. Conducted in Arabic with interpretation, the event once again highlighted the importance of open and confidential dialogue formats for foreign and security policy exchange.
