Stellantis Algeria has signed a new industrial partnership agreement with the Italian company Seagate, aiming to produce plastic parts for the Fiat auto plant located in the Tafraoui region of Oran province, western Algeria. The agreement was signed in the Italian capital, Rome, on the sidelines of the Algerian-Italian government summit, chaired by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

According to a statement issued by Stellantis Algeria, the agreement represents an extension of the existing cooperation between the two parties, as the two parties previously signed a similar agreement in May 2025. This partnership is part of a large-scale industrial localization strategy currently being implemented by the company, which includes 13 local suppliers involved in providing parts and components for Fiat cars produced in Algeria.

Through this step, the company aims to increase the rate of local industrial integration, so that Algerian-manufactured parts cover more than 30% of the vehicle components produced at the Tafraoui plant. Stellantis also seeks to move forward toward establishing the first integrated automotive industrial system in Algeria, contributing to reducing the import bill and achieving high added value for the national economy.

In a statement following the signing of the agreement, Rawi Al-Baji, General Manager of Stellantis Algeria, said that the Fiat plant project in Algeria has become a powerful symbol of the strategic cooperation between Algeria and Italy, considering the new agreement a “real lever” in the efforts to build an Algerian industrial system rooted locally and capable of competing internationally.

Al-Baji emphasized that this cooperation reflects the two countries’ shared ambition to transform Algeria into a competitive regional platform for the automotive industry, particularly given Algeria’s strategic geographic location and proximity to European and African markets. He explained that the agreement will contribute to the transfer of Italian technology and industrial expertise to the Algerian market, in addition to creating new job opportunities and strengthening the capabilities of local suppliers within the sector’s supply chains. It’s worth noting that Stellantis Algeria, the owner of the Fiat brand, seeks, as part of its strategy, to support the Algerian government’s policy aimed at developing local industry and diversifying the national economy. Its project includes expanding the manufacturing and assembly of various Fiat models for the local and export markets. Source: Al-Shorouk Algerian.
